(Not just talking the talk).
When we launched our business, it was pretty important to me that the products in our boxes were sourced locally, preferably from female owned businesses (or family owned), and where I could, small businesses.
The other important thing was that we paid these people. The makers. The mums. The dads. The people, who, just like me, had a dream of a successful business.
Don’t tell but…
A not so secret secret from the subscription box world, is that many boxes trade off their socials, subscribers and EDM’s for free product. Or sample sized product. Or free product and also receiving payment for inserting that product.
That’s the model.
And personally… I think it’s flawed.
Exposure doesn’t pay bills. Exposure doesn’t help pay for my daughters singing lessons. Exposure doesn’t fill my tequila bottle or top up my chocolate stash.
That’s not to say if we get offered a product at no charge that we won’t consider it.
If it fits the theme, we think our subscribers will love it, or we are introducing them to something new, then that’s a conversation we’ll have. But we’ll also state that on our insert cards. It’s a bonus product. Not something we’ve sourced and paid for. And, if it’s something we wouldn’t offer usually under our brand (ie our #notamponshere rule, we won’t include it). Same goes for samples. We will never pass off a sample as a full-sized product.
We believe in small business.
We are one after all. We value paying small businesses for their products. And we value you, our subscribers and customers.
We want you to know that when you spend your hard-earned money on a Little&Luxe box, those products inside have been paid for by us. And that your money is supporting not just our business, but the four, five or six businesses inside the box, the local print firm we use, the local couriers who pick up from L&L HQ and then deliver to you, my local accountant (because tax is hard!), the local packaging company, and the local gift wrap and ribbon supplier.
And yes, our box is priced more than some of the others out there, but it will always be worth more than what you pay (plus free shipping). And you can know that we stand by our ethics of our business – every product in there has been paid for by us. And if it hasn’t been, we’ll tell you.
Which brings me back to walking the walk.

- Our monthly subscriptions bill on the 5th of every month. You can cancel anytime. If you cancel before the billing date you will not receive a box.
- 3, 6 and 12 month subscriptions bill immediately.
- Boxes are shipped between the 6th and the 12th of the month. You will receive a tracking email so you can follow the journey.
