9 things we’re watching

We’ve all been there, scrolling through the Netflix suggestions, thinking, I should probably fold the laundry or clean the shower, but what do I watch next?! We all need a bit of mindless escapism to get us through this everchanging world so Mel and I thought we’d create a blog post with some of our faves to inspire you!

Here’s a couple of categories and suggestions of the TV series and films that we think are worthy! So grab the popcorn, get a blanket and dig in!:

Reality:

I must admit, and I’m not sure when it started, but I’m getting a little bit addicted to reality TV. I just love it and not afraid to say it! It takes my mind off all the crazy and relaxes me after a stressful day at work!

Ru Paul’s Drag Race

“We’re all born naked and the rest is drag.”

One of Mel’s all time faves – she’s watched them all! Proven by the snapchat she just sent me as I’m writing this! If you’ve not watched this one before, she recommends starting at about season 4 – cause that’s when the best action happens!

Below Deck/Below Deck Mediterranean

And here is my fave! I love it  – can’t get enough! Will they dock the boat successfully without crashes? Will the 3rd Stew find true love with the Chef? Will they all argue on the next night off in the bar? Yes, probably! Escapism at its best!

Selling Sunset

Look, it took me a bit of time to warm to this one – was thinking for a while, why would you want to watch about real estate agents? Mel however, binge watched the first season, and the second, and then convinced me to give it a go. It’s great – lots of luxury houses and a few dramas with the team. I’ve even followed up with Million Dollar Beach House based on the real estate teams in the Hamptons.

Drama

Before you judge me too hard on my binge watching, reality TV antics, we’ll move away to the drama series!

The One

With a few dramatic twists and turns threading through this series, it’ll keep you on the edge of your seat! With only one season and 8 episodes, you could easily smash it out in a week. I don’t want to give too much away of the storyline, but if you’ve not seen it, you really need to!

Maid

I really enjoyed this series. As a single mum, a lot of the storyline resonated with me. While I’ve certainly not experienced the struggles of the lead character, but it’s well told and real emotion.

Julie and the Phantoms

Technically not a drama, it’s kind of a musical comedy-drama show, which had Mel in tears (she is a wee emotional sausage) but also singing along to the catchy tunes. Julie is a musician struggling to find her music after her mum dies, and she manages to accidently summon the ghosts of a deceased band from 1995. Weird – yes. Great music – yes. Can’t wait for the second season. Also the hotness that is Cheyenne Jackson is in it 🔥.

Movies

I love nothing more than curling up in my blanket, watching a good old film!

Clueless

We’ve gotta include this classic. Who doesn’t want to be Cher, or Dion for that matter? We all wanted the wardrobe and skirts with knee high socks! Reliving the teenage years!

Dirty Dancing

Mel picked this one and controversially, I have to admit, I’ve never seen it!!!! Perhaps I need to invest a little bit of time this weekend?

The Good Liar

Being British, I can’t go past a good British Film! With a truly awesome cast, Helen Mirren, Ian McKellen, Russell Tovey…this film is full of suspense and drama.

So there’s our top picks! We’d love to hear yours! Drop us a message below or send us an email and let us know which show/movies/series you can’t scroll past!

We hope we’ve given you some inspiration to relax this weekend and just indulge in Netflix!
